At Distinct Studios, we are passionate about art and dedicated to promoting the work of contemporary artists in the Washington DC area and beyond. Our founder, Mary Higgins, is a practicing artist, curator, and art collector with a lifelong passion for the visual arts. With a background in visual arts, Mary brings her expertise in curation, exhibition planning, art consulting, and marketing to the table.

About Mary Higgins

Mary Higgins is a fourth-generation Washingtonian with a lifelong passion for the visual arts. She holds a BFA from Corcoran College of Art and Design and an MA in Visual Information Technology from George Mason University. As a practicing artist and curator, Mary is attuned to the challenges artists face in building a sustainable career. Her experience as a gallery director and curator at the Schlesinger Center at Northern Virginia Community College and her knowledge of art and technology have prepared her to provide expert guidance and support to artists and art collectors.
