Our Story

Mike, the founder of Howard Interior Design, discovered his love for color and design at a young age while living in the vibrant Caribbean with his grandparents. His passion for the creative process grew further when he attended college in the Midwest to study art. Mike started his professional career as a graphic designer before embarking on an adventure around the world while working for a major airline. This journey led him to the Hawaiian Islands, where he developed a deep love for exploring different countries and cultures.

Eventually, Mike relocated to San Diego to pursue his passion for interior design. During his studies, he earned top honors in both local and regional design competitions, earning praise for his creativity, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. These qualities led him to a position at a design firm specializing in solutions for small spaces, where he created one-of-a-kind designs for his clients, including custom furniture, built-ins, and multi-functional pieces designed to maximize efficient use of space.

Mike started his own residential design studio in 2010, offering a full range of design services from conception to completion, with a specialization in kitchens and baths. He is a member of both the American Society of Interior Design and the National Kitchen and Bath Association, holding an AKBD certification.

Design Consultations

Scheduling a design consultation with us is a great way to get started on your project. During our meeting, we'll walk through your space together, discussing your ideas and needs while evaluating the lighting, traffic areas, and other aspects. We'll also take photos and measure the areas in question to provide you with customized recommendations and a subsequent design study. Consultations take two hours and cost $250, which can be paid at the time of our meeting.
